President's Message 2012 - A Year of Great Decisions by John Cole Published December 2011 As 2011 ends, Republicans find themselves thinking firmly about the 2012 Election, both nationally and here in Nevada. I think we can all agree that 2012 will be a year of great decisions for our nation and our state. Examples include: Who will be our next President, will Democrats retain the Senate and thus keep Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader, will Obamacare remain viable through the scrutiny of the Supreme Court , will Republicans retain the House, will Dean Heller remain a US Senator from Nevada, and many more! These are critical and fundamental questions that will be answered, and many can still be swayed as we consider them here at the end of 2011. And with the fact that so many of these decisions continue to be undecided, the Republican Party, both here in Nevada and nationally, must decide how much effort we're willing to put into ensuring that the most critical races and decisions end up in our favor. And that rests solely with people and organizations like the Nevada Republican Men's Club! To give us a sense of all of the challenges we face here in Clark County, Dave Gibbs, the CCRP Chairman will be speaking at the NRMC luncheon on January 9th. Dave will cover the challenges we face, both at the state level as well as in Clark County, what efforts the CCRP will be putting in place to help Republican candidates win in November, and how the NRMC can help in those efforts. We look forward to his comments. Additionally, Dave, Mark Ciavola (UNLV Young Republicans) and I recently met for lunch to discuss ways in which the Republican efforts can coordinate and communicate better, and be more aligned in our efforts leading up to the elections in November. I expect many new ideas and efforts to be brought forward over the next few months that will allow us every opportunity to achieve numerous victories next November. As these efforts emerge, we will announce them, as well as try and keep you informed of them through the NRMC web page. But in the end, the real way Republicans are going to win in November of 2012 will be to rely on each of us, individually and as a group, to work in unison, correlate our efforts, align our message, and get the word out about why we're the better choice. It will take long hours, material effort, and substantial dollars - but all of these must be generated if we are to be victorious and reverse the dangerous and illogical economic trends this country has been through over the last three years. Please know that the NRMC Team will give every member as much information and support possible so that you can each contribute to these important efforts as much as possible!! |
