 President's Message by Michael Mazur Published October 2010 Early voting has started! The general election is on November 2, 2010. Please see the attached NRMC Voter Guide that lists all of the Republican candidates for the general election. Please share this with all of your friends, family and feel free to photocopy and distribute this list. Our next luncheon is set for November 1, 2010. Our guest speaker will be Sherman Frederick, President of Stephens Media Group, publisher of the Las Vegas Review Journal. Last month we featured two guest speakers, Dr. Joseph Heck and Kenneth Wegner both candidates for U.S. Congress. In September, we had featured Mark A. Hutchison, Esq. as our guest speaker. Mr. Hutchison's firm was retained by the State of Nevada to join 19 other states in the federal lawsuit against healthcare entitled State of Florida v. United States Department of Health and Human Services. The case was filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida. The day after our luncheon, a hearing was held to hear the United State's Motion to Dismiss the case. On October 14, 2010, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled in favor of the twenty states and against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on their motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Honorable Judge Vinson ruled that the lawsuit may proceed and has scheduled arguments to be heard on December 16, 2010. See the Bloomberg News Article for details.
