CHECKS AND BALANCES
Our Founding Fathers built into the Constitution and the other Founding Documents the establishment of
checks and balances to avoid abuses of power. We have the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches,
each with their distinct powers, jurisdictions and roles. Consider a possible looming scenario of two
Supreme Court appointments by the Democratic presumptive nominee, along with the Presidency and control
of both houses of Congress in control by the other side. If that controlling party has a liberal,
socialist, philosophy, we are facing more governmental control in our lives, rising taxes, and drastic
societal changes. We should elect a Republican president to counter the other side’s control of the
House and the Senate. We need appointments to the Supreme Court to correctly interpret the Constitution.
This means not legislating from the bench. Let’s all work to preserve our Great Republic.
A VOTE FOR NANCY PELOSI
When Nevada elects and sends to the U.S. House of Representatives a Democratic Congressional
representative, we send a vote to sustain Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, and her political
philosophy and tactics.
OBAMA: AN UNPREPARED RISK
Senator Obama’s “let the world see me” tour stopped in Jordan after his visit to Afghanistan and Iraq.
A carefully arranged press conference was artfully staged and organized at a Jordan historical site.
I watched on C-SPAN as Obama stumbled through opening remarks without teleprompter, and then attempted
responses to questions from the press. Obama’s observations were in every item identical to previous
reports, and strategies, by our Generals and President Bush. Whether in diplomacy, political or military
areas, Obama was advocating what had previously been implemented by the President, the State Department,
and our military coalition. With one exception: Obama wants a specific schedule for withdrawal of
U.S. troops from Iraq. General Petraeus and the President have clearly stated that troop withdrawal
from Iraq will be determined by “conditions on the ground.” Anyone with even an inkling of military
history, strategy, and warfare knows that one never publishes to your enemy your plans, strategies, and
specific time schedules. With no experience in military, or any other matters, Obama is neither prepared
to be Commander-In-Chief nor President.
