Happy Holidays to the entire membership. As this year concludes, I want to convey to you my heartfelt appreciation for having selected me as your president this year. I have had a wonderful time serving you and building our club into a significant and worthwhile endeavor here in Southern Nevada over the past two years.

This month I have been trying to do my part as a republican, as concerned citizen of this great state and country and I am happy to report that our newsletter has reached new heights of recognition and honor. Thanks to those members who have contributed their thoughts, their concerns, and their hope for our future. For politics involves the future, it is about what we can do, not what was… it is about progress, about solution, about performance. Yet and unfortunately, our society has indeed become a culture of complaint, of squabbles.

The rule of law does not mean nor does it denote that our country must be mired in and what history may judge as petty and insignificant squabbles. It has been perverted to intemperance and has positioned our country on the world stage as problematic. I do not want my generation to be known for the abuses of torts and the picayune efforts at erosion of our core values of a country. An understanding of the root cause of this phenomenon must be examined. Simply put, people in the 60’s and 70’s were compelled to experience their unbridled passions that we all feel as human beings…thus liberal-ism was borne out of the desire to live and let live. We all now understand and know that, that great social experiment has come to an end. Yet the shrill is not gone.

The form of its expression today is in the socialist agenda namely promulgated by the democrats. For it is easier to hear the shrill of discontent and desire, than that din, and almost inaudible humming of stability and purpose. The freedom that I know of does not proscribe the nature of our democracy today. Ostensibly, we are more fractured and regionalized than ever before in the history of our nation. Government has grown to big, societal phenomena such as a shrinking middle class, and burgeoning personal, commercial, and government debt, illegal immigration, and an dilapidated educational system may rob us all of our futures. Rumor has it that even conservative democrats are concerned over the direction of the 2008 elections. We must pull together as moderates and conservatives, understand our direction and purpose in 2008 and keep the White House. Furthermore, we must endeavor to keep the senate and representatives seats, while building and maintaining the edge in our state. This road is less traveled because it involves hard work, dedication, and good thinking: Think of our founding fathers! Not one person should have to bear the burden of this task, not one per-son should feel that they are the only ones concerned, and not one person should feel that they are fighting the battle alone. As a party, we must band together and support those fellow republicans who are in office or who desire to be. Our end game must be victory in 2008 through republican purpose and leadership. We can win this election and we can sway Nevada back to the Republican state that it has always been!

Governor Gibbons will be our guest for our next meeting. Please show your support through your attendance and of course, tell your friends. We may also have an expert speaking on the topic of immigration from the Center for Immigration Policy. The doors open at 11 am for we have voting until 12 noon. Please take the time to vote for your board members and please renew your membership for next year. Thank you once again for the honor of serving you and for your support in making our club worthwhile.
